You are a treasure.

Every September arrives with the same atmospheric indecision. Imagine crisp morning air, dry leaves underfoot, and unexpectedly warm afternoons. Standing in front of the wardrobe, I find myself caught in seasonal friction. How do I dress for this weather? Does this knitwear still work, or is it hopelessly “last year”? Does everything I know about personal style need an audit, or should I just revise the current trend cycle?

When it comes to personal finance, I wonder: Do our money rules shift as the seasons change?

We often treat financial advice as if it were etched in stone, yet the economic climate is just as volatile as early autumn weather. Some foundational principles remain fixed, but many rules demand a seasonal revision to keep us from operating on outdated assumptions. Just like fashion, finance runs on hype cycles, micro-trends, and shifting baselines.

Our job as strategic operators isn’t to chase every runway wave, it is to look at the current circumstances and take only what serves OUR specific trajectory. Ruffles and oversized tailoring might dominate the runway, but do they actually flatter your frame? AI funds and high-yield tech stocks might dominate market headlines, but do they belong in your portfolio architecture?

Wearing three lightweight summer shirts doesn’t equal a structured wool trench. Hoarding cash across five basic checking accounts doesn’t equal a bespoke capital strategy. Buying into a fast-fashion micro-trend leaves you with a closet full of dead inventory by November. Buying into speculative market hype without doing the research leaves your balance sheet equally exposed. You get the point.

True sophistication, being très cher, is about knowing what to tailor, what to keep on rotation, and what to leave on the hanger. Because at the end of the day, going broke just to look trendy is out of style in every single tax bracket.

Until next time,
Très Cher (:
